Objectives
- Interpret fan and system curves to understand the operating point and performance of fan systems.
- Understand pressures and pressure losses in a fan system.
- Apply fan affinity laws to predict changes in airflow, pressure, and power resulting from speed or density changes.
- Identify major centrifugal and axial fan types and applications for each.
- Understand pressure losses in ducts and fittings and their impact on system performance.
- Evaluate common fan control methods and compare their effects on airflow, pressure, and energy consumption.
- Select properly rated fans using certified performance data while considering efficiency, power, and system requirements.
