Description
This webinar will cover the basics of in-duct mechanical noise and how to control it. The presentation will walk through a typical acoustic analysis for a commercial HVAC system and discuss how to select the correct products to achieve the required noise levels in a building. The participant will also learn how to locate attenuation products to maximize their performance while considering their impacts on the overall HVAC system. This webinar was originally broadcast on February 10, 2021.
Speaker: Kristen Neath
Length: 60 minutes

Objectives
- Define the fundamental science of air system noise, including the distinction between sound power and sound pressure and how different frequency bands correspond to specific HVAC components.
- Perform a duct system acoustic analysis by calculating supply and breakout noise to identify and evaluate potential noise issues within a system.
- Select and strategically locate noise control products, such as duct silencers, to effectively mitigate unwanted sound in commercial HVAC applications.
