Description
This program will discuss the fundamentals of pressure losses in ducts and fittings, how fitting selections affect the overall system pressure requirements, and why the most efficient fitting (one with the lowest loss coefficient) does not always need to be selected. To be reviewed is how to calculate the loss of replacements when the fitting does not fit, and how it affects the total pressure drop of the system. We will also address why the most efficient fittings should be used when initially designing with static regain. This webinar was originally broadcast on March 31, 2021.
Speaker: Pat Brooks
Recording length: 60 minutes

Objectives
- Explain how friction loss is calculated and analyze the specific ways velocity affects these losses within a duct system.
- Describe fitting loss coefficients and demonstrate how they are used to calculate losses for various duct fittings.
- Evaluate how the selection of specific fittings and the sizing of ductwork impact the overall design and balance of an HVAC system.
